I’ve been birding with Hery twice now. Once in 2016 and more recently in Aug 2019. I’ve had a great time on both occasions and stacked up an impressive list of species, many of which were lifers. Hopefully next time I go back I can go across to Java with him and his team. Highly recommended!

Me and my wife went birding with Hery and Bayu in West Bali and Mount Igen. They are both great professionals and fun to be around. We got good views and decent photos of the black-winged starling and Bali mynas – the stars of the National park and many more. They have great hides set up in both areas and we got great views of many interesting species, including Javan banded-pitta (both Bali and java subspecies, males and females), rufous-backed dwarf kingfisher and grey-breasted partridge. We also got day roost photos for sunda scoops owl and savannah nightjar. We were especially impressed by hery’s and bayu’s skill in drawing out the skittish babblers and bush warblers 🙂 We did miss a few species we were hoping to get, I think mostly due to the fact that rains were late this year but also environment degradation in some places – bar-winged prinia, Javan cucooshrike, barred buttonquail, mangrove whistler, grey-headed canary-flycatcher, lesser shortwing, ruddy cuckoo-dove, beach thick-knee, white-browed crake, flame fronted barbet. We also did not get the sunda thrush we were hoping to get in the hide in java. Overall, fully recommend Hery and Bayu and we hope to come back soon and clean-up the missed species 🙂
I spent four days with Bayu and Wagini and they were truly epic. They were very interested up front to know what I most wanted to see and do, and they tailored our time to best suit my interests – both with target species and the fact I wanted to spend more time taking photos than simply bagging lifers. I can’t say exactly how many birds we saw in total, and we definitely had a few issues with the weather that ate into our time a little on a couple of the days, but I can say I walked away with a bunch of pretty decent shots and some really really good ones. Everything from kingfishers (one of my targets) to a hornbill… with bonus shots of a white bellied sea eagle, pea fowl, and a bunch of others. If you’re keen to see birds in Bali/East Java, these guys would be hard to beat. Professional, knowledgeable and great guys. Would do another tour in a heartbeat. Tip to make the most of your tour: If you’re not in or near the area you want to go birding in, it may be a better use of your time and money to make your own way there and start the tour with them from there. I was about four hours away and spent way too many hours getting to and from where I was staying – should have got a regular driver at regular prices, stayed the night in the area, then maximised my birding time with them. Not their fault, but something I would do a little differently next time to either do the same amount in less time, or more in the same amount of time. Brilliant tour and you won’t be disappointed.
We just had an AMAZING week with Hery and Borning capturing every target on our bucket list. Each place we saw was a secret place most tourists never seen. I’m new to birding and I was VERY impressed. #bali #mybalilife

Birding with Mas alias Lucky and driver Markus was excellent! We focused on the target birds and had marvellous views, especially the Pitta!! I can highly recommend this guide and driver.
Hi Had an excellent 3 days birding with this company. The guides are fantastic, making sure you get good views of all the endemics and other goodies and I had the opportunity to photograph and observe many species in four birds hides. Everything was great, I have zero complaints. I was on my own and had one of two guides plus a driver each day. The accommodation and food were the usual superb Bali cuisine, so yummy and they provided all the water you need to hydrate through the day. I’ve been with many birding companies around the world and these guys are EXCELLENT.
I was three days with Mas (guide) en Marcus (driver). They were relaxed company and very willing to find my targetspecies. They adapted the programm when it was necessary to find a just missed species. And when we drovr to a new place he told on the way what was the plan to do next. So the communication was excellent. And they worked hard and long. Was happy with these guides.
I spent an amazing week with birdguide Mas Untung and driver Markus on a 1-week tour to Bali and East Java.
They are both really passionate in birdwatching, and extremely knowledgeable about bird behaviour and local birdwatching sites.
They are both very sharp-sighted and I would not have connected with many of the prime targets were it not for their observational prowess and field knowledge.
The tour was well designed and nicely paced. Mas and Markus are easy going and thoughtful, while at the same time hardworking and persistent when it comes to finding your target birds.
I really appreciate their efforts and expertise in finding the Javan Frogmouth during the night time sessions – it was no easy feat but they nailed it!
All in all, I would heartily recommend their service to anyone contemplating a visit to this ecoregion.
I had a great 3 days of birding with Diyan and Marcus on Bali. Diyan was very effectieve in finding many different species in different places. I definitely saw a lot more birds then when I would have tried on my own. I also found Bali Birding Tour relatively affordable and I did not regret approaching them.
